The French referral centers for sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) were created in 1986 by the French Ministry of Health to manage cases of SUID and the affected families, including postmortem explorations to identify the cause of death. These centers are also responsible for promoting research on SUID, disseminating information on SUID, and standardizing SUID management. Since 2013, these centers have been combined into a nongovernmental organization, the National Association of Referral Centers for SUID (ANCReMIN).
