Highlights |
• | PONV remains common after general anesthesia, with dehydration being one of the possible contributing factors. |
• | Aggregate analysis of 7 studies showed no difference between crystalloid and colloid groups. |
• | However, colloid infusion group had reduced incidence of PONV in major surgery and anesthesia duration >3 h. |
• | No statistical difference was found between crystalloid and colloid groups in rescue antiemetic use. |
