Abstract
At a time when orthodontists are calling more and more on “absolute” anchorage, it is nonetheless useful to take stock on dental anchorage. Indeed, dental stabile anchorage will remain essential until such a time as microscrews are used systematically in all forms of multi-attachment treatment. Moreover, dental anchorage alone controls the components which are non-parallel to the direction of the traction exerted by the screw. Finally, mobile anchorage governs all forms of mechanics with or without microscrews.
Using 3D cat scans, C2000-Cepha and Cepha3DT software and the principle of root volume, we were able to calculate the anchorage for tooth groups conventionally mobilized using mechanical orthodontics.
We will examine total arch mechanics and segmental mechanics, with or without a rigid connection between the stabile and mobile groups and in situations involving the use of extraoral force or microscrews.
