Women
s orgasmic dysfunction and sexual well-being: quantitative measurements and correlates with psycho-social and sexual parameters
- 27/06/08
Résumé |
Womenʼs orgasmic function and dysfunction is attracting increasing research interest, although its definition is dubiously lucid. Thus, in 1981 Levin listed more than 20 different definitions, while an expert committee more recently found that female orgasm is a variable, transient peak sensation of intense pleasure. Not a very precise definition.
The objectives of this presentation are: 1) To present some of the currently available questionnaire-based methods for identification and quantification of female orgasmic function and dysfunction 2) From an epidemiological point of view to describe some female and male psycho-social and sexual correlates of female orgasmic dysfunction and accompanying distress 3) To elucidate to which extent womenʼs orgasmic dysfunction impacts on their level of sexual satisfaction.
Upon the background that womenʼs orgasmic function is closely correlated with a wealth of psycho-sexual parameters, it appears relevant to recommend further distinctive research on this important area of womenʼs sexual function.
