Love and sexuality in the age of liquid modernity - 27/06/08
Résumé |
As early as 1965, Alexander Lowen emphasized what a deep division there is between love and sexuality in the western man, as the modern individual identifies the personality with the ego and the mind, ignoring the function of the body and the physical processes in determining behaviours and sexual reactions.
In this report I will develop the evolution of this concept in the light of the sociologist Zygmunt Baumanʼs modern thinking, going deeper into the identity transformations and the connections with the body, in what he defines the “The age of liquid modernity”.
