T05-O-22 Peyronie
s disease: variety may be the spice of life, but is too much of some kinds of sex detrimental?
- 27/06/08
Résumé |
Objective |
to identify possible links between Peyronieʼs Disease (PD) and frequency of intercourse using pre-treatment questionnaires
Design method |
124 patients with PD completed the standard questionnaire; data analysis concentrates on the 37 patients who completed the revised version, asking additional questions about frequency, pain, trauma and cracking during intercourse before onset of PD.
Results |
Of the 37 patients who completed the revised questionnaire, 12 men (32%) reported pain, trauma or cracking in the penis during intercourse before the onset of PD, the remaining 25 men (68%) did not. At least one co morbidity was observed in 67% of the patients who reported trauma to the penis; in those who reported no penile trauma 68% had at least one co morbidity. 86.5% of the men stated they have intercourse ≥ 4 times a month and 62.2% of the men surveyed practise the woman superior position during intercourse, which may add to the stresses on the penis during intercourse. 78.4% repeated the onset of their penile curvature to be gradual, with an average of a 44% bend.
Conclusions |
Men with PD report more episodes of sexual intercourse than men of a similar age without PD. The more men practise the woman superior position during intercourse, the more likely trauma to the penis is to occur. Those who reported penile trauma were younger than those who did not.
