T09-O-11 Sexual problems and risk factors in a group of Portuguese women in primary care setting - 27/06/08

Objective |
The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of sexual problems and risk factors in a Portuguese sample of women, without any known previously clinical sexual difficulties, and the exclusion criteria was severe medical and psychiatric illnesses, and the use of psychotropic in the last month before de evaluation.
Design and method |
Our work consisted of 83 sexual active and fertile women (64.3%), age range 18-49 years divided in two subgroups: 18 -29 years and 30-49 years, patients of Odivelas Health Centre. The evaluation was carried out with three self-report Questionnaires namely: The Portuguese validation of FSFI; the Portuguese validation of ISS and the Portuguese version of PRIME-MD: PHQ primary care study.
Results |
FSFI presents in 18-29 years group 96.4% of at least one sexual problem, and at least one sexual difficulty in 30-49 years group(58.7%). ISS shows 90.7% sexual satisfaction in 18-29 years group, and 62.3% of sexual satisfaction in 30-49 years group.age education and time of relationships are correlated with sexual problems.
Conclusion |
There is a decline in sexual satisfaction with age but the opposite with sexual function. The youngest presents more sexual difficulties but are more sexual stisfied. The older presents less problems but are more sexual dissatisfied.These data highlight the need to have a comprehensible vision of the sexuality, thinking not only in the sexual functionality but also in all dimensions of Human sexuality.
