The assessment tools typically used by physiotherapists, such as chest X-ray and auscultation, lack of diagnostic precision. Lung ultrasonography shows excellent precision in assessing deficits of interest to physiotherapists: lung consolidation, alveolar-interstitial syndrome, pleural effusion, etc. The use of lung ultrasound in the physiotherapist's clinical decision-making offers new insights, improving the precision of clinical examination and guiding deep lung treatment, as described by Postiaux. It guides the physiotherapist in selecting alveolar recruitment and re-ventilation techniques according the type of lung deficit. Its use in chest physiotherapy by a trained and experienced physiotherapist specifies indications for chest physiotherapy and assesses treatment efficacy. Diagnostic ultrasonography is an essential tool, which should be included in work-up, alongside auscultation.
