For over 20 years, the department of psychiatry and addiction run by Professor L. at Paris Hospital Bichat has entrusted ‘expert patients’ the support of alcohol-addict patients, in hospital or in consultation. This type of ‘expert patients’ is one amongst many others. This is why this article is not about terminology but about the adaptation skills from the recovering patients. These skills, taken from Patient's Therapeutic Education are applied by the patient who first adapts to his illness, and then transmits his experience to other patients and other audiences over teaching and training sessions. The topic of the addicted patient's identity regarding the chronicity of the disease will also be questioned.
