Managing a polytraumatized patient in the operating room requires rigorous coordination between medical and paramedical teams, with complex decisions concerning hemodynamic, respiratory and surgical management. The key stages in the continuum of care are explored, from the transmission of information from the emergency room to the intensive care unit or post-interventional monitoring room. Patient set-up, choice of priority procedures and specific anesthetic precautions, in particular to stabilize vital functions, are at the forefront of this care process. The importance of inter-professional collaboration and fluid communication is stressed, with a view to improving patient safety and clinical outcomes.
