Sexual, emotional, affective education A model of education addressed to children, teenagers and adults - 27/06/08
Résumé |
The International Institute of Sexuology of Florence has been working since 1985 in the field of Sexual, Emotional, Affective Education addressed to different audiences.
We are fully aware that in order to foster childrenʼs and/or teenagers’ affective development we need adults able to take the responsibility of passing on correct and positive messages about sexuality.
Human sexuality expresses itself in the process of growth and aims at specific objectives.
Objectives |
• | to develop a good relationship between oneʼs own body and its changes; |
• | to feel comfortable with oneʼs own identity; |
• | to feel good about oneʼs own body; |
• | to be able to identify “the other” in his/her sexual difference as an equal subject; |
• | to be able to communicate with the other sex. |
Materials and Methodology |
In order to train educators to become expert in this area the IISF has identified a specific methodology which facilitates the ongoing information by means of three stimuli: visual, auditory, kinesthetic.
Didactic material structured according to different ranges of age is part of the Sexual Education Project.
Outcomes
Final assessment questionnaires confirm the validity of content and methodology.
Conclusions |
We want to communicate to young people that relationships are the heart of life and that emotional communication is important in order to build up relationships and sexual pleasure.
