Psychobiology of sexual behaviour in adolescence: tenderness and open sexuality - 27/06/08
Résumé |
Adolescence is a crucial experience of human being.
During a very short period of life every individual experiences the two capital changes of the body and of the mind.
The development of reproductive ability (with the pubertal transformations ) and the development of the structures in the brain lead to reach the complete adult life. But in adolescence there is an overlapping between needs and reasoning, instincts and behaviour. Very often the conflicts are useful to grow up, and the new discoveries in the neurosciences field help to clarify how the building brain needs conflicts to develop completely, Teenagersʼsexuality is an explosive cocktail-mix of independent behaviour, dependence on others than family, tenderness and not understandable impulsive acting outs. The risks of self damaging activities depend on the complex balance between opposite tendencies that rise from the growing brain structures. They are the reward area (from its stimulation comes the increase in dopamine release, and all the risky behaviours) and the prefrontal-frontal lobes, that complete their functions only in about twenty years aged people.
This recent neurosciences model can lead to very stimulating advices both in educational and in social sciences that will be discussed in this paper.
