Tecniques of body mediation from alternative medicine - WATSU - 27/06/08
Résumé |
In 1980, Harold Dull began to apply techniques of stretching and pressure in hot water characteristic of Zen Shiatsu, learned in Japan from master Masunaga.
From that time on, many people in the whole world have experimented the power of this bodywork, called Watsu or Water Shiatsu. According to Chinese Traditional Medicine the state of health of the organism is connected to the continuous flow of Ki, the vital energy, through the system of meridian channels. The work in warm water can re-stabilize the circulation, by relaxing the tensions through a dynamic that can be foreseen, but that is not yet deeply known.
Whereas the perception of our body is problematic, a Watsu training produces an improvement of self-esteem and favours a positive attitude in the relations in which the body becomes the favoured mediator. Premature ejaculation, orgasmic disturbances, situational erectile dysfunction are the pathological areas that receive the greatest benefits from Watsu, especially if supported by a contextual psychotherapy that elaborate the personal experiences of the water sessions.
The Study Center For Natural Birth of Venice, who gets the merit for having introduced Watsu in Italy in 1990, proposes this method to couples during pregnancy, and also as a useful course for those who work in obstetrics. The clinical sexological team of San Dona’di Piave proposes this as a technique of body mediations for the therapies connected to relational problems in association with psychotherapeutic sessions.
