T03-0-10 Christian morality and sexuality. A social problem - 27/06/08
Résumé |
Objectives |
Precepts of Catholic Church concerning sexuality forbid each sexual relation conceived out of a regular wedding and not oriented to life-creation, condemn masturbation and homosexual relations, forbid conceptive for birth control, warn on the use of condoms as instrument of protection against sex transmittable diseases.
Christian doctrine is incongruous with reality, it is indispensable to keep on the campaign in defence of laity of the state and human rights, the right to sexuality among them.
Documentation and method |
Reading specialised books and Internet research on articles and issues.
The approach of relationship between sexuality and religion evidences particularly the effects of dictates imposed on sexuality. In particular the act of the Church in setting back the use of condoms as instrument of prevention to AIDS and the negative consequences following such act is analysed.
Results |
The debate on the power and enforcement of Church about sexuality is still open. The effort to achieve an emancipation of the right to sexuality from Christian morality is on, to detain the negative reflex on individual choices.
Conclusions |
Despite the strong effort by domestic and international associations/organisations in supporting the idea of sexuality felt as aware and responsible choice, and claiming the need of effective strategies concerning the prevention of HIV virus, a lot of things are to do with the aim to overcome the accuses of Catholic Church to “pansexual” and materialist actual society.
