T05-O-01 Contraception and patologies that affect the sexual life - 27/06/08

Objectives |
The research “The sexuality of Romanian active population” is the largest researches accomplished in Romania in this field in the last 10 years and was initiated by the Romanian Association for Sexual Medicine (AMSR).
Through the research objectives were contraception and the pathology of sexual life.
Design and Method |
The research has been accomplished on a sample of 1240 men and women with an age between 15 and 55 years old.
The research is based on a quantitative methodology.
Three groups: youth (15-25), adults (26-45), older (46-55).
Results |
Regarding the method of contraception used by the couples menʼs most used answers were: 36% condoms, 24% pills and 22% nothing. In women case most used are the condoms (29%), the pills (29%) and nothing (18%). Also, 8% from men don’t know what method of contraception their partners use!
The most known pathologies that may affect the sexual life are for men AIDS, syphilis and BPH and for women syphilis, AIDS, herpes and malignant tumor. There are also data about sexual transmitted diseases they know.
Conclusions |
A large number of men and women don’t use contraception methods. The knowledge about pathologies that affect the sexual life is very limited in active population. The women are more interested in this field comparing with the men. They are more looking for information.
