T06-O-08 Sexual addictions: diagnostic difficulties correlated to compulsive disorders - 27/06/08

Objectives |
Sex dependency (DdS) was for a long time within the realms of sexologial literature but today it is more commonly found in psychiatry and sexology.
Current research and studies have overwhelmingly confirmed the diagnostic difficulty in correlating the compulsive disorders. However both problematics have points in common: the psychological disorientation crosses into the psychiatric ambit, the limitations, the deteriation of affective and social life, the use of sexuality as a response to states of anxiety, depression and feelings of guilt.
All these become very important from the diagnostic and therapeutic aspect when taking into account the complexity of the problematic and accepting the inevitable comorbility with other syndromes.
Materials and methods |
The pyscotherapeutic cognitivist treatment, an interdisciplinary therapeutic intervention and a specific evaluation in the cases of clinical pathological dependance, not only sexological, aimed at improving the awareness of the correct cognitive - emotive funciotnality enabling the ivicious circle to be broken by self maintenace of the symptoms.
Results |
Our case studies confirm the importance of knowing and regulating the uncontrollable emotions and impluses, which ultimatly seriously impair the social and affective life of the person.
Conclusion |
The improvement in the level of knowledge of the patients own emotive - impulsive functionings enables the presupposed fundamental with which to interrupt the vicious cycle by the self-maintenance of the symptoms. Learning to manage ones anxiety helps with the objective aimed at mastering uncontrollable impulses and emotions.
