T08-O-02 Combined sexo-psychological and pharmaceutical approach to dissociated turnon patterns - 27/06/08
Résumé |
Some special sexual turn-on patterns are being criminalized by the Law, condemned by the Church, pathologized by medical authorities and riduculed by society. Other are not criminalized, but still met with labels of sin, pathology and ridicule. This evokes shame, and shame evokes dissociation.
“It is just like someone else is doing it”
Clinically we may meet desperate clients that cannot control their sexual drives. They are threatened by disclosure, prosecution and loss of family/friends.
This presentation points out some principle in how to assist these individuals in their quest for more control and better, safer lives.
The approach may be described as combined systemic, narrative, sexological and medical.
The principles are divided in seven groups:
1: | Qualifying the aims and longings linked to the pattern |
2: | Rendering non-pathologizing logic to the aetiology of the pattern. |
3: | Integrating the understanding and knowledge of the pattern in the total personality. |
4: | Qualifying other sexual wishes and needs. |
5: | Qualifying other personal needs |
6: | Map the different systems influencing the clientʼs life. |
7: | Map the clientʼs qualities and capacities |
8: | Introducing drugs apt to relieve so called OCD behaviour. |
The presentation will be illustrated through one case story of voyeurism and exhibitionism. the drugs administrated being Escitalopram to enhance control and Alprazolam for sleep.
