Objectives |
The telephone counselling represents one of the primary activities tie to psychological and sexual information and prevention. Besides information, listening and help represent the most frequent interventions. The organization of the operatorʼs answer includes different levels:
• | Greeting; |
• | Analysis of the need; |
• | Redefinition of the problem; |
• | Restitution and final agreement. |
Materials and methods |
The material is composed by 500 file cards match to an equal number of telephone calls received by “Counsellor on-line” from the 1st October 2005 to the 1st July 2007.
The file cards had been formulated in order to have a complete vision of the users’characteristics.
The work consisted in a data processing concerning the 500 file cards, done acting an uniquely descriptive analysis of the frequency distribution of those variables.
Results |
The telephone calls were made in the 61% by women who are between 30 and 39 years of age. The calls were made for couple and sexual problems (26%).
The youngest users called to receive information about contraceptives and on how to obtain an abortion (14%).
The operatorʼs answers were so classified: giving heed (36%), giving information (17%), orientation/counseling (32%) and despatch (13%).
Conclusions |
The telephone counselling set up as “supportive relationship” with specifics characteristics, can be considered as a “bridge” that link and divide, join together distance and proximity, a channel that ensure the larger handiness and the possibility to stop the contact at any time, a medium that permit to stay anonymous.
