T09-O-25 Physiotherapy in the treatment for female sexual dysfunctions - 27/06/08
Résumé |
Objective |
Many women suffer from dyspareunia. They seldom solve this problem. The main reason is probably the abashment and doubts about the cure possibilities. The direct relationship between the condition of the lower back muscles and the way the reproductive organs function is approved, the practical utilization of this knowledge is unsatisfactory. While researching the effect of physiotherapy in the infertility treatment process (Mojzis-method) was proven that women suffering from infertility suffer often also from painful menstruation, dyspareunia, back pain and headache. These complaints disappeared in a significant number (up to 70%) thanks to physiotherapy.
Design and methods |
70 patients, who were treated in the physiotherapeutic policlinic because of vertebrogenal complaints, were asked about suffering from dyspareunia.
Results |
12 patients feel and ever have felt comfortable during the coitus. 38 clients used to feel the sexual intercourse pleasantly, however, now they suffer from dyspareunia. For 11 women, the coitus does not bring and never has brought the positive feelings, or the pain. 9 patients suffer from dyspareunia for all their life. After explanation that the sexual experience is related to the state of skeletal-muscular apparatus and that dyspareunia is treatable by physiotherapy, 51 women gave an indication of the cure.
Conclusions |
Dyspareunia is common but seldom solved problem decreasing the feminine self-confidence. Physiotherapy offer both remarkable therapeutic yet psychotherapeutic potential – the reason of the complaints does not psychologize. The awareness among professionals and the interdisciplinary cooperation is highly demanded.
