T09-O-27 Heroin in the treatment of premature ejaculation ! …does it work ? - 27/06/08
Résumé |
Aim |
To evaluate whether heroin is used among addicts to improve sexual performances and the ejaculation control.
Methods |
185 (mean age 29.95 +/− 4.1 yrs) former heroin addicts from 14 drug rehabilitation centres were invited to fill in a questionnaire with their personal data, toxicological history, sexual experiences as well as quality of performances.
Results |
42.5% of subjects had premature ejaculation before first drug use. 46.5 % of the whole sample used heroin to improve sexual performance and / or ejaculation control.
Subjects were also invited to answer to the question |
“To what extent heroin was helpful in improving the ejaculation control?” 12.7% answered a little/ at all, 25.3% somewhat, 60.7% very much. Besides 30.8% used heroin to improve erection. Of these 49.1% stated that heroin helped very much 26.3% some-what and 24.6% a little/ at all.
Conclusions |
Among former drug addicts Premature ejaculation is particularly high before first drug use. Former drug addicts claimed that heroin is used to improve sexual dysfunction and that it works in relieving premature ejaculation.
Despite the “provocative” title of this research, these data highlight that premature ejaculation can trigger heroin use and that sexual education and early treatment of sexual dysfunction can be an important tool in primary prevention of drug addiction.
