Cependant, cette complexité peut prendre une coloration exacerbée quand un enfant vient d’une autre culture. L’accompagnement du jeune patient met en lumière l’importance des liens familiaux, des représentations culturelles de la maladie et du rôle des soignants dans l’accompagnement. Cette expérience souligne la nécessité d’une approche ouverte et flexible, prenant en compte les dimensions identitaires, sociales et spirituelles du patient pour donner du sens à son parcours jusqu’à la fin.

Paediatric palliative care is a complex situation for healthcare professionals, because a child's death systematically raises the question of the impossibility. However, this complexity can be accentuated when a child comes from another culture. Supporting a young patient highlights the importance of family bonds, cultural representations of disease and the role of carers in providing support. This experience highlights the need for an open and flexible approach, taking into account the patient's identity, social and spiritual dimensions, in order to make sense of the patient's illness until the end.
