Cardiac rehabilitation - 08/10/11
Abstract |
Cardiac rehabilitation programmes rarely include many patients aged over 75 years. However, above this age, physical deconditioning arising from heart failure, regardless of the cause (infarction, valvular disease, hypertension, dilated cardiomyopathy), is frequent and often severe. In this context, a cardiac rehabilitation programme was set up in October 2004 in the Trois-Chêne Hospital (University Hospitals of Geneva). The experience from this programme shows that regular physical training during in-hospital stay is beneficial in very elderly patients with heart failure.
