Summary |
Hemoglobin O Arab is a genetic defect due to the synthesis of an abnormal hemoglobin which replaces the normal hemoglobin A. We report the case of an homozygous hemoglobin O Arab in a 40-year Moroccan woman. The diagnosis was suggested by the use of the hemoglobin electrophoresis at alkaline pH and confirmed by the hemoglobin electrophoresis at acid pH and the high performance liquid chromatography. Diagnosis was definitely established after genetic analysis of globin genes.
