Conclusion |

Introduction |
Since the beginning of 2010–2011, the PACES replace the PCEM1. Central to this reform, the midwifery spinneret fits into the Licence-Master-Doctorate (LMD), with a S2 in special education (fetoplacental unit) associated with a specific competition. Follow a spinneret is now a choice, one wonders how the PACES has reduced the proportion of students choosing the spinneret midwifery default. The objective here is to confront the choice of spinneret reported by students competing midwifery and that of the spinneret actually followed at the end of the final results.
Methods |
A prospective descriptive study by questionnaire was conducted among 441 students midwifery of PACES, associated with a retrospective study by questionnaire to 38 students received. The work also relied on objective data of services to the campus and the study of the final ranking of 441 entered in the contest midwifery.
Outcomes |
In Marseille, the contest is very selective with 8.16% of success (vs. 17.16% in medicine and 36.64% in pharmacy). The selection of the spinneret concerned as the first choice is 48% registered for the midwifery competition, and 80% of admitted. The remaining 20% who chose in second this spinneret. The level of recruitment remains high but the number of man (8%) and accepted (0/35) questions the attractiveness of the sector for this population. Being enrolled in two spinnerets in midwifery L1 does not cause significant difference on the final result. In the opinion of students, the midwifery spinneret “fetoplacental unit” in PACES has been “easy” and would require less work than other spinnerets.
Conclusion |
The survey reveals that information of midwifery should be improved, and the teaching of the fetoplacental unit readjusted and strengthened in order to discriminate midwifery and medicine. The results show a greater correspondence between the student and project success in the competition. Further studies will be conducted and repeated in France to show and confirm the success of the reform.
