Résumé |
ADHD as a developmental disorder
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is regarded as a developmental disorder based on its early onset in life, the genetic background, the gene-environment interaction, the neuropsychological deficits, as well as the different development of the brain as compared to controls. Yet a diagnostic test on the individual level is lacking, as is true for other psychiatric disorders. The implications of the lifespan duration of ADHD on behaviour, lifestyle and health make the disorder complex. In addition, comorbidity is high and adding to this complexity. In this presentation, latest findings on ADHD as developmental disorder will be presented, leading to a research agenda for the coming years.
