Résumé

Le dépistage néonatal est une action de santé publique exemplaire mise en place il y a plus de 40ans à l’instigation de pédiatres et de biologistes pionniers. Les pédiatres jouent un rôle central dans cette action, de la réflexion sur les nouvelles perspectives à la prise en charge des enfants dépistés. Cet article passe en revue tous les points où le rôle des pédiatres est déterminant et fait le point des évolutions en cours ou à venir.

Summary

Newborn screening was implemented in France 40 years ago, initiated by a small group of pediatricians and biologists. Pediatricians play a central role in this action, from the reflection on new prospects to the care of affected children. This article reviews all the steps in newborn screening where pediatricians play a role as well as recent and future changes.
