Predictors of future onset of atrial fibrillation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Prédicteurs de future survenue de fibrillation atriale dans la cardiomyopathie hypertrophique

Figure 1

Figure 1 :

A–C. Measurement of left atrial (LA) volume and phasic function; the LA area and the distance from posterior wall to mitral plane are measured on cine images in two-chamber (top row) and four-chamber (bottom row) views. Three LA volumes are computed using the biplane area-length method at ventricular end-systole (A, maximal volume), mid-diastole (B, pre-A volume) and end-diastole (C, minimal volume); these three volumes are used to compute LA emptying fractions (total, active, passive) and expansion index, as described previously [20].

Figure 2 :

Fibrosis patterns on late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) magnetic resonance images. A–C. Examples of LGE patterns in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), illustrating: (A) fibrosis on left ventricular-right ventricular insertions; (B) other midwall enhancements of various distributions; and (C) fibrosis of subendocardial distribution categorized as “ischaemic-like”.
