Abstract

A patient with right-sided L5 sciatica and low back pain experienced a symptom recurrence three weeks after surgical removal of a right-sided L4-L5 disk herniation magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was suggestive of recurrent disk herniation and showed enhancement of the right L5 root. This case emphasizes the difficulties met in interpreting imaging studies done too early after surgery.
