Résumé

L’épiglottite aigüe est devenue une entité exceptionnelle en pédiatrie. L’introduction de la vaccination conjuguée anti-Haemophilus influenzae type B a modifié la morbi-mortalité, ainsi que la microbiologie de cette pathologie. Nous rapportons le cas d’un nourrisson de 11 mois ayant présenté une épiglottite aigüe à streptocoque β-hémolytique du groupe A.

Summary

Acute epiglottitis has become an exceptional observation in pediatrics. The introduction of Haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine changed the morbidity, mortality, and microbiology of this disease. We report the case of an 11-month-old infant with acute epiglottitis due to group A β-hemolytic streptococcus.
