A conflict is a dynamic event: it has many characteristics that will evolve over time. Recent studies detail the multiple sources of conflicts; they have also clearly demonstrated an impact on the safety of care and the well-being of professionals in the operating theatre. Several kind of conflict managements can be described; it is necessary to be familiar with them in order to act effectively. The role of the actors is fundamental, and concepts such as the dramatic triangle allow a better understanding of their interactions. New individual skills must therefore be developed, as emotional intelligence. Disruptive behavior has also been described; it must be avoided in an operating theatre. The principles of good interdisciplinary work, such as effective communication and a right culture, are defined and must be promoted, in particular through training, the introduction of adapted tools or organizational improvements. The relationship between the surgeon and the anesthesiologist is a fundamental element for the cohesion of the teams. In the future, it will be necessary to train these professionals in a less competitive way from the beginning of their studies.
