Résumé |
Contexte |
Conclusion |

Context |
The patient-as-partner approach is emerging in France. In this model, the patient is considered as a full member of the healthcare team and the aim of this approach is to involve patients at every step of the healthcare system. As part of patient care, clinical pharmacy may be inspired by the model, and also contribute to its development. The aim of our study was to evaluate the pharmacists’ knowledge and representations about the patient-as-partner approach.
Methods |
We therefore conducted a survey of pharmacists attending the 18th congress of the French Society of Clinical Pharmacy.
Results and discussion |
We obtained 222 responses. A total of 57% of respondents did not know or barely the patient-as-partner approach, and 64% did not identify the differences between this approach and therapeutic patient education. The principles of the approach were overall accepted. A total of 87% of the respondents wished they could integrate the patient into the healthcare team, but 40% thought it would not be possible.
Conclusion |
The concept of “patient as partner” remained rather unknown by the French clinical pharmacists, but its development may be welcome.
