Résumé |
Introduction |
Conclusion |

Introduction |
Ocular allergy is a common pathology that can lead to severe complications, including corneal, and sometimes blindness.
Material and methods |
A multidisciplinary activity of allergo-dermato-ophthalmology has been initiated in November 2016 at the University Hospital of Saint-Etienne, in the form of a day hospital in the department of dermatology and external ophthalmology consultations. The day hospital is provided by three specialist doctors: an allergist, an ophthalmologist and a dermatologist, assisted by a nurse. The retrospective analysis of this activity was carried out after 2.5 years.
Results |
A total of 296 day hospitalizations were performed for 196 patients. The majority of patients (158, or 80.6 %) involved an allergic ocular pathology. 35 patients had seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (22.1 %), 50 patients had perennial conjunctivitis (31.6 %), 36 patients had vernal keratoconjunctivitis (22.8 %) and 9 patients had atopic keratoconjunctivitis (5.7 %). A total of 114 patients (58.1 %) had a positive allergological assessment. The main allergens found were grasses, mites, animal dander, herbaceous plants and trees. The treatment offered ranged from simple antihistamine eye drops to systemic immunosuppressants, corticosteroids and local immunosuppressants. A desensitization treatment was started in 25 patients (12.8 %).
Conclusion |
The collaboration of three specialties, allergology, dermatology and ophthalmology, in a day hospital remains unpublished in France and allows a comprehensive and optimized management of allergic patients. This activity contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of these patients and to a better organization of this care pathway.
