Highlights |
• | A 3cm minimal skin incision might increase the difficulty when drilling to prepare the implant bed. |
• | The posterior wall of the EAC should be substantially thinned during mastoidectomy, in order to better expose the round window and to facilitate the electrode array insertion. |
• | The electrode array should be inserted gently, slowly and smoothly, slightly downward and forward (the direction of the basal turn), and over a period of about 1 to 2min. |
