Jérôme Mercurialis est un médecin et un philosophe du XVIe siècle. Cet ouvrage à la fois médical et à connotation historique (références faites aux Grecs et aux Romains) lui donna à l’époque une grande notoriété. Il est un des tout premier médecin à associer gymnastique médicale et thérapeutique.

Jérôme Mercurialis is a 16th century physician and philosopher. This work gathering medical and historical connotations (references to the Greeks and the Romans), gave him a great notoriety at the time. He is one of the very first doctors to combine medical and therapeutic gymnastics.
