With the revolution in medical reimbursement and the increased scrutiny by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) regarding Medicare payments, physicians must become more knowledgeable about the issues of coding, billing, and reimbursement. Knowledge of how to code procedures and diagnoses and how to document services rendered adequately provide the basis of good, effective, and legal billing practices.
