RADIAL NEUROPATHY - 07/09/11
Resumen |
Radial neuropathies are a common cause of pain, weakness, and sensory impairment.67 The radial nerve is involved less frequently than the median and the ulnar nerves in entrapment syndromes15, 21, 40; however, the radial nerve is the most frequently traumatically injured nerve in the arm, usually secondary to fractures.4 Radial neuropathies affect primarily the extensor muscles of the upper extremity or the sensation of the posterior upper extremity. Functional knowledge of radial nerve anatomy helps the clinician to localize radial nerve lesions to the proximal arm, distal arm, elbow, forearm, or wrist and to distinguish radial neuropathies from radiculopathy or plexopathy.
