Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma with metastasis to the ampulla - 18/08/11
| Commentary Ampullary malignancies usually are adenocarcinoma or neuroendocrine tumors, e.g., carcinoid. All gastroenterologists should know ampullary neoplasia is common in familial adenomatous polyposis and is seen with coincident cancers, e.g., gastric and colonic. Metastatic disease to the ampulla is rare but needs to be excluded, as this case illustrates, in any patient with a malignancy, especially when accompanied by jaundice. Lawrence J.
