Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with Children and Adolescents - 20/06/18

The procedures used in and the outcomes produced by cognitive-behavioral treatments for psychological problems in youth are reviewed. The theoretic underpinnings of cognitive-behavioral interventions are described, and the general intervention strategies are detailed and discussed. With reference to specific clinical disorders in children (e.g., anxiety, depression, aggression), the differential application of cognitive-behavioral strategies and procedures and the overall outcomes of research evaluations are considered. Future directions for theory development, practical application, and research evaluations are offered.
