Individuals with amputations have become increasingly interested in the pursuit of recreation and competitive sporting activities. This interest has brought a heightened awareness of the need for prosthetic devices that allow each person to reach their physical activity goals. Specific activities may require adaptations to the prosthesis and the physical conditioning of the individual. Careful consideration of the physical demands of the desired activity must be made to ensure the proper combination of prosthetic adaptations and physical conditioning.
