Patients’ options in the United States are currently limited to saline filled breast implants for primary augmentation. The amount of fill volume placed into a saline implant directly impacts patient outcome in many ways, including the aesthetics and palpation characteristics of the breast, risk of postoperative complications such as visible wrinkling or rippling, risks of implant shell collapse or folding that impact implant shell life, and the necessity of reoperations during a patient’s lifetime.
