Control of scar formation is one of the most important objectives of medical science. For patients that manifest hyperkinetic, keloid or other problem scars, the need for effective therapy is particularly important. Over the past few years, new therapeutic strategies have been introduced and there are more on the horizon. This article briefly reviews the mode of action and clinical applications in the context of a general overview of useful strategies to control scar formation.
