ASIAN BLEPHAROPLASTY: SUTURE TECHNIQUE - 20/12/23
SUMMARY |
The suture technique for double eyelid surgery provides a simple, rapid, safe method of forming a double eyelid crease with minimal recovery time. It is useful in patients who are apprehensive about surgery and allows a patient to “try on” a double eyelid crease without permanent alteration of the eyelid structures. This permits simple, rapid adjustment or correction of the results to make a higher or lower fold or a different shape according to the patient’s wishes. It is also useful in situations in which minimal recovery time is important.
The key to successful surgery is secure anchoring of the skin to the levator aponeurosis at the pretarsus. The disadvantage of the technique is that it cannot be used in all patients. It does not work well in patients with thick or swollen eyelid skin, excess skin, excess fat, ptosis, or heavy epicanthal folds.
