T10-O-18 The International Platform for Sexuality and Relationships Education: an update Worldwide collaboration in research and education - 27/06/08
Résumé |
Objective |
In an increasingly sexualised society, it is ever more important to develop sex education for both young people and adults. Up until recently there has been no international body to act as an umbrella for sex and relationship educators. The 2006 EFS conference in Prague saw the founding of the International Platform for Sexuality and Relationships Education (IPSRE) a network through which those interested in sex and relationships education can share views, exchange ideas, offer support. This presentation will introduce delegates to the Platform and explain its aims and principles. There will then be presented reviews of work in: United Kingdom, Holland, Canada, as well as highlighting the problems of working with socially excluded and hard-to reach groups. The issue of lifelong sex education will also be discussed.
Conclusion |
The presentation will conclude with a summary of future initiatives by IPSRE and an invitation to delegates to become involved in the platform.
