La création de l’unité d’épidémiologie clinique (UEC) s’inscrit dans le cadre du réseau RECIF, avec pour objectif de professionnaliser la recherche dans l’Ouest algérien. Sa mise en place a suivi une démarche structurée en plusieurs étapes : elle s’appuie d’abord sur la dynamique du diplôme universitaire organisé par le RECIF, dont les participants ont constitué le socle initial de compétences méthodologiques. L’unité s’est ensuite ouverte à des experts issus de différentes facultés, notamment en informatique, mathématiques et biologie, afin d’intégrer des compétences transversales. Une analyse des besoins a été réalisée auprès des cliniciens pour identifier les lacunes en méthodologie et en analyse statistique. Sur cette base, une feuille de route stratégique a été élaborée pour définir les objectifs à court et moyen termes. Enfin, l’organisation d’un séminaire inaugural a officialisé le lancement des activités et permis de valider les premiers partenariats hospitaliers. Aujourd’hui, l’unité supervise un ensemble de projets diversifiés, pilotés par des indicateurs de performance visant l’excellence et la visibilité internationale. Elle ambitionne ainsi de promouvoir une recherche rigoureuse contribuant directement à l’amélioration de la santé publique et des soins.

The creation of the Clinical Epidemiology Unit (UEC) forms part of the RECIF network, with the aim of professionalising research in western Algeria. Its establishment followed a structured, multi-stage approach: it was initially based on the momentum generated by the University Diploma organised by RECIF, whose participants formed the initial foundation of methodological expertise. The unit then opened its doors to experts from various faculties, notably in computer science, mathematics and biology, in order to integrate cross-disciplinary skills. A needs assessment was carried out among clinicians to identify gaps in methodology and statistical analysis. On this basis, a strategic roadmap was drawn up to define short- and medium-term objectives. Finally, the organisation of an inaugural seminar formalised the launch of activities and enabled the first hospital partnerships to be confirmed. Today, the unit oversees a diverse range of projects, guided by performance indicators aimed at excellence and international visibility. It thus aims to promote rigorous research that contributes directly to the improvement of public health and healthcare.
