Cet article interroge l’expérience clinique en oncogériatrie d’une interne de radiothérapie, confrontée à la tension permanente entre l’exigence de haute technicité et la vulnérabilité extrême des patients. Dans cet univers régi par la précision des machines, les dilemmes éthiques surgissent souvent comme des « drames de la vie » . Selon une approche inspirée de l’éthique et de la médecine narratives, l’auteur propose un récit sur le thème de la vulnérabilité et de la relation de soin en radiothérapie. Après avoir donné des repères théoriques, le récit est présenté, analysé, et ses enjeux éthiques sont discutés. La singularité des situations et le besoin d’attention et d’écoute dans le quotidien de la clinique sont ainsi soulignés. En transformant le doute solitaire en une réflexion partagée, elle permet de reconnaître la vulnérabilité non pas comme une faiblesse, mais comme une condition ontologique commune au soignant et au soigné. L’étude souligne ainsi que l’alliance thérapeutique se co-construit dans l’hospitalité des silences et la reconnaissance de la dignité singulière des patients, parfois au-delà des protocoles standardisés. Les approches narratives apparaissent comme des outils tout à fait pertinents pour stimuler l’imagination morale, apprendre à douter et à cheminer en contexte d’incertitude.

This article examines the clinical experience in geriatric oncology of a radiotherapy resident, confronted with the constant tension between high technical requirements and the extreme vulnerability of patients. In this world governed by machine precision, ethical dilemmas often emerge as “dramas of life”. Following an approach inspired by narrative ethics and narrative medicine, the author presents a narrative on the theme of vulnerability and the care relationship in radiotherapy. After providing a theoretical framework, the narrative is presented and analysed, and its ethical implications are discussed. The uniqueness of clinical situations and the need for attentiveness and listening in daily practice are thus highlighted. By transforming solitary doubt into shared reflection, this approach allows for the recognition of vulnerability not as a weakness, but as an ontological condition common to both caregiver and patient. The study emphasizes that the therapeutic alliance is co-constructed through the hospitality of silence and the recognition of the singular dignity of patients, sometimes transcending standardized protocols. Narrative approaches appear to be highly relevant tools for stimulating moral imagination, learning to embracing doubt, and navigating within a context of uncertainty.
