Cette étude vise à explorer les modalités d’accompagnement spécifiques associées au placement familial de jeunes enfants suivis en pédopsychiatrie, analysées au travers du vécu, des expériences professionnelles des assistantes familiales. Cette recherche s’est déroulée dans un service de pédopsychiatrie de secteur et le recueil a été réalisé avec sept assistantes familiales accueillant chacune un jeune enfant suivi en pédopsychiatrie. Les accueils étudiés sont majoritairement précoces et envisagés comme longs. Cette étude a constitué les étapes préliminaires d’une recherche-intervention, une démarche participative et de co-construction s’est déployée au travers de rencontres, d’entretiens semi-directifs et d’un groupe de discussion. Quatre résultats principaux ont émergé de ce travail, grâce à une analyse thématique. Ils traitent d’abord des particularités développementales et comportementales des enfants et de leurs implications quotidiennes. Ensuite émerge l’importance primordiale d’un environnement stable et contenant pour l’enfant et la complexité du travail d’ajustement psychoaffectif qui en découle. Les tensions et difficultés interprofessionnelles et interinstitutionnelles sont relevées au travers de la construction et la pérennisation de l’accompagnement de l’enfant. Enfin ces constats découlent sur des propositions de leviers, d’outils, d’accompagnements pour soutenir les assistantes familiales et l’exercice de leur fonction auprès des enfants. Cette recherche donne un éclairage approfondi du travail de ces professionnelles, dans la compréhension de l’enfant et le travail quotidien à leurs côtés, aussi concernant le travail interprofessionnel avec les équipes qui entourent l’enfant. Pour conclure, cette étude montre le rôle central des assistantes familiales dans le quotidien, pour un accompagnement stable, contenant et cohérent entre les différentes sphères de vie de l’enfant, dans la complexité des ajustements relationnels et institutionnels que leur fonction implique.

This study aimed to explore the specific support arrangements associated with the foster care placement of young children receiving child and adolescent psychiatric care, analysed through the lived and professional experiences of foster carers. This research was conducted within a local child and adolescent psychiatric service, and data were collected from seven foster carers each of whom was caring for a young child receiving child and adolescent psychiatric care. The placements studied were predominantly early-stage and envisaged as long-term. This study formed the preliminary stages of an action research project; a participatory and co-constructive approach was implemented through meetings, semi-structured interviews and a focus group. Four main findings emerged from this work, following a thematic analysis. First, they addressed the developmental and behavioral characteristics of the children and their implications for daily life. Second, they highlighted the paramount importance of a stable and supportive environment for the child and the complexity of the resulting psycho-emotional adjustment process. Interprofessional and interinstitutional tensions and difficulties were identified in the process of establishing and sustaining support for the child. Finally, these findings led to proposals for strategies, tools, and support mechanisms to assist foster parents and support them in their work with children. This research provides an in-depth insight into the work of these professionals in terms of their understanding of the child and their day-to-day work alongside them, as well as their interprofessional collaboration with the teams supporting the child. In conclusion, this study highlights the central role of family support workers in everyday life, ensuring stable, supportive and consistent care across the various spheres of the child's life, amidst the complexity of the relational and institutional adjustments that their role entails.
