La communication, élément central de la relation soignant-soigné, peut être mise à l’épreuve en présence de troubles auditifs, chez le patient comme chez le professionnel. Cette étude explore le point de vue des patients face à un soignant sourd ou malentendant et apporte un regard inédit sur le handicap du professionnel de santé. Elle propose également des pistes concrètes pour améliorer l’accueil des patients malentendants en cabinet et aborde la prévention de la santé auditive chez les pédicures-podologues.

Communication, a central element of the caregiver-patient relationship, can be challenged when hearing impairments are present, whether in the patient or the healthcare professional. This study explores patients’ perspectives when interacting with a deaf or hard-of-hearing healthcare provider and offers a fresh perspective on disability among healthcare professionals. It also proposes concrete strategies for improving care for hard-of-hearing patients in clinical settings and addresses hearing health prevention among podiatrists.
