Recently, an exhaustive study has provided a state-of-the-art overview of the record of the Asian black bear ( Ursus thibetanus ) in the Iberian Peninsula ( Villalba de Alvarado et al., 2024 : Quaternary Science Reviews 325, 108385). However, knowledge of this taxon remains limited, as it has only been identified at five sites across the entire peninsula, all concentrated in the Cantabrian range and the Levante. Revision of the materials from the Llers Quarry site (Alt Empordà) has led to the recognition of bear remains showing affinities with the Asian black bear ( Ursus cf. thibetanus ). The aim of this manuscript is to provide a morphometric description of these fossils and to discuss their taxonomic and paleobiogeographic significance within the Iberian Pleistocene framework.
