La pratique de la médiation par l’animal tend progressivement à se développer auprès de publics en situation de vulnérabilité. Ce témoignage illustre sa mise en place au sein d’un établissement d’accueil du jeune enfant communal de 75 berceaux, en décrivant les différentes étapes du projet jusqu’à sa réalisation. La mise en relation entre le jeune enfant et l’animal offre au tout-petit la possibilité de développer des compétences physiques, sociales ou encore cognitives et de renforcer sa confiance et son lien d’attachement.

Animal-assisted intervention is gradually becoming more widespread among vulnerable populations. This account illustrates its implementation within an early childhood care center, describing the various stages of the project through to its completion. The interaction between the young child and the animal offers the child the opportunity to develop physical, social and cognitive skills and to strengthen his confidence and bond of attachment.
