Abstract |
Duplex ultrasound (DUS), in addition to clinical examination, is essential for the accurate assessment of superficial venous disease (SVD). It allows venous mapping, which is the basis of the therapeutic choice and serves as a reference for evolutionary monitoring. These guidelines, carried out at the request of the French Society of Vascular Medicine (SFMV) and the French Society of Phlebology (SFP), propose a standardized methodology for DUS examination considering the multiple clinical presentations of SVD. For each territory, the distinctive echo-anatomical data and the specific methods of the resulting examination are described. To improve and standardize practices, a unique and updated standardized template for reporting DUS findings by venous mapping is proposed.
